A Description of the 4 Year Program:

Gestalt Therapy Education Year 1
One Year Introductory Course: April-December

GTB invites anyone who is interested in Gestalt therapy and their personal and professional development to engage in this 1 year course. It is not an expectation that all students will progress into the Master course. We will welcome your application.

Course Structure Year 1
The Introductory Training Course consists of six experiential weekends and a 6-day Residential. The Residential is an important component of the program and gathers all GTB students in one venue. Stage I delivers 144 hours of face to face tuition. It is an expectation that students will also engage in additional hours of study both on their own and in a small group of members of the year 1 cohort (30 hours). Students are also required to engage in a minimum of 10 one-to-one therapy sessions with a Gestalt therapist.

Alignment to Australian Qualifications Framework 8 (AQF 8)

Prerequisite:
Fulfilment of the Course Requirements of Stage I or equivalent.
Course Structure

Year 2

Year 2 delivers 168 hours of face to face tuition made up of: 7 Weekends (Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday) and a 6-day Residential. It is an expectation that students will also engage in additional hours of study both on their own and in a small group of their Year 2 cohort (30 hours). Students are also required to engage in a minimum of 10 one-to-one therapy sessions with a Gestalt therapist. Students begin their clinical practice with clients under faculty supervision during Year 2.

Fulfilment of the Course Requirements of Year 2 or equivalent
Course Structure

Year 3

Year 3 delivers 179 hours of face to face training made up of 7 Weekends (Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday) and a 6-day Residential. It is an expectation that students will also engage in additional hours of study both on their own and in a small group of their year 3 cohort (30 hours). Students are also required to engage in a minimum of 10 one-to-one therapy sessions with a Gestalt therapist. Students expand their clinical practice with clients under faculty supervision during Year 3 with students spending two weekends focusing on their work with clients.

Year 4 delivers 197 hours of face to face tuition made up of 7 Weekends (Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday) and a 6-day Residential. It is an expectation that students will also engage in additional hours of study both on their own or in small groups. Students are also required to engage in a minimum of 10 one-to-one therapy sessions with a Gestalt therapist. Students further expand their clinical practice with clients under faculty supervision during Year 4.
