About

Humans are relational beings. In connection with the other, we experience both our deepest hurts and our greatest joys. The majority of our wounds happen in relation to ‘an other’. These hurts can be numbed and cause us to adjust our way of being in the world.

Clare is an Art Therapist and a Gestalt Psychotherapist who has specialised in trauma informed and strengths based therapies. Clare combines Gestalt Psychotherapy with Sensorimotor Art Therapy and EMDR and Polyvagal informed therapies to guide the client through the healing process.

Clare is interested in working with people who do not want to keep ‘doing the same old life’. Having shaped her training around her interests she found she has a passion for helping people to work through a variety of life transitions. Clare’s background is broad and spans from clinical counselling in major hospitals with loss and grief and mental health to working in rehabs and intensive drug and alcohol therapy. Clare has a private practise in Byron Bay where she works with both adults and children. As a faculty member of the Institute of Sensorimotor Art Therapy. Clare is a part of an international training and supervision program for Sensorimotor Art Therapy.

Neurobiology and modern neuro scientific research inform us that the bottom up (body based) therapy is an essential part of the client’s recovery. It allows clients to move trauma to the past and build solid body based tools for calmness in moving forward in their lives.

Clare has travelled extensively for work and for pleasure, most recently having lived in the Middle East for 3 years. Clare is a partner, a mother and a grandmother.
