Request: Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
Dear students and members of our GTB community,
As you would all be well aware, the Australian government is attempting to limit the spread of coronavirus within our community. This is an unfortunate situation and it is hard to predict exactly what will happen next. GTB needs to respond to this situation in a way that hopefully limits the chances of people getting infected with coronavirus at GTB.
Therefore, we would like to ask students, staff, and private practitioners working from GTB to follow preventative measures that have been put in place in the interests of public health.
We ask that if you or anyone around you is unwell or shows symptoms of illness, please make arrangements to visit your family doctor. Please do not come to GTB when you have been diagnosed with coronavirus or if you have been in close contact with someone who has recently been diagnosed with coronavirus and there is a chance that you might have been infected too. You can return to GTB after a period of self-isolation (14 days). Please make sure that you also have a conversation with clients who you might see or are intending to see at GTB as well.
Australian Government travel restrictions are in place from mainland China, Iran and South Korea along with additional screening measures for those coming to Australia from Italy. These restrictions remain in place until at least Saturday 14 March.
In line with these current travel restrictions, please do not come to GTB if you have:
- left, or transited through mainland China in the last 14 days (people are asked to isolate themselves for 14 days from leaving mainland China)
- left, or transited through Iran on or after 1 March (people are asked to isolate themselves until 14 days after leaving Iran)
As they currently stand, we do not expect the updated travel restrictions to significantly impact upon any of our day-to-day operations at GTB and want to reassure you that we will continue to work to ensure any disruption is minimised.
GTB will continue to monitor the global and local situation regarding this virus including monitoring the advice from Queensland Health and the Department of Education.
The latest information regarding the virus is available on the Queensland Health website. https://www.health.qld.gov.au/clinical-practice/guidelines-procedures/diseases-infection/diseases/coronavirus
GTB appreciates your support in working together to ensure the health and safety of our community!
Yours Sincerely,
Tine Mueller
